We do not make the balloons that we print and for years
we have been using American balloons (Qualatex).
Now we have moved to buying balloons made in England or in Europe. This
will reduce environmental damage caused by importing goods from the USA.
If a packet of balloons travels three or four thousand miles by ship or by
air to get to the UK this cannot be a good thing! |

The
American manufacturer (Pioneer)
has factories at several locations in the US and in Mexico so the balloons
may have had an even longer journey than just the trip from a single
factory in the US to the UK. Another problem is that the US balloons
always come in packets of 100 with no easy option to buy in bulk so the
empty packets add to the environmental impact. |

We
believe that it is better if a single bulk shipment of natural latex comes
into the UK by ship from Malaysia and then the balloons are manufactured
here (in Chesterfield) and then delivered to our workshop in
Gloucestershire. We also buy Belgian-made balloons, which are imported by
a distributor in Suffolk. We use these because we believe some of the
colours are better. Our goal is to get the British manufacturer to improve
their range so that we can use their products exclusively. |
